We are grateful to our clergy for the amazing and meaningful Thanksgiving Celebration last night. Given the situations around the world it was important to pray for peace and stand together on our faith based perspective. The statement shared by our clergy is posted here. Let us celebrate Thanksgiving with gratitude while relentlessly praying for Peace around the world.

Looking forward to this year's Thanksgiving Celebration. Let us meet and pray for Peace.

Your Northwest Suburban Interfaith Council was at the Buffalo Grove National Night Out on August 1, 2023 to collect food for the hungry and to promote peace and kindness. Children were given a chance to color messages of kindness.

Gun violence is too heavily affecting our nation, families and individuals for us to sit idly by. We discussed this matter and took the following action. Here is the letter sent to legislators about NWSIFC stance on passing gun safety laws.

Thanks to the 90 individuals from our member congregations along with others  at 3 packing sessions on February 10th and 11th.
Added together the 3 sessions produced 168 boxes of food. This means that 36,288 meals were created.
That is enough food to feed 100 children for an entire year. In other words, they saved the lives of 100 children.

An Active Interfaith Council

Our 10 member congregation council is active in the communities of Buffalo Grove, Wheeling, Long Grove and Prospect Heights.  Our annual projects include "i-walk against hunger,"(raising funds for our food pantries); "knock your socks off," (supplying socks for PADS), Stamp out Hunger and the Interfaith Thanksgiving Service.

About the Northwest Suburban Interfaith Council

The Interfaith Council is a not-for-profit organization with 10 member congregations located in Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove, Wheeling, Long Grove and Prospect Heights (all in Illinois).

The Interfaith council was founded in 1990 as a direct response to an incident of anti-Semitic graffiti painted on the Northwest Suburban Jewish Community Center.  The clergy of the area joined together to condemn the vandalism caused by hate and ignorance.
